Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between body butter and body lotion?

Body lotions are often lighter and water-based, whereas body butters are thick and rich, often oil-based products that absorb more slowly, offering more intense hydration and nourishment for the skin. Body butter is best for dry or very dry skin.

Why use body butter on dry skin?

Body butter hydrates and protects skin more effectively than lighter lotions. Body butter contains oils and butters that replace the missing oils in dry skin. The thicker formula of body butter locks the moisture in by forming a protective layer on the skin that prevents moisture loss. This is especially important if your skin feels tight or flaky. The fatty acids in body butter help repair the skin barrier – the skin's own protective layer that is often weakened when the skin is dry.

How often should I use body butter?

Depends on your skin! If the skin is very dry, you can use body butter daily, but with normal skin 2-4 times per week should be enough. We recommend applying body butter after shower when the skin is still a little damp so that the body butter can bind the moisture to the skin, or at night before bed so that the oils have time to absorb during the night.

Why should you exfoliate your skin?

Skin exfoliation removes dead skin cells, making the skin look smoother and brighter. Removing the dead cells also enhances the absorption of body lotions and body butters. Regular exfoliation helps reduce rough spots, such as on elbows, knees and shins. Skin exfoliation can help preventing ingrown hairs by keeping the pores open, which helps hair grow normally. Mechanical exfoliation with a sugar body scrub also activates blood circulation in the outer layers of the skin, and brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells.

How often should I exfoliate my skin?

Usually one time per week is enough! If mechanical exfoliation causes irritation, try lighter pressure and exfoliating less frequently.

Is Noral Skincare Body Scrub suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes it can be suitable, because it's rich in moisturizing ingredients, also because sugar itself is hygroscopic and binds moisture to the skin. If your skin is very sensitive, you should be careful and not continue the use if irritation occurs. Sometimes less is more!

Are Noral Skincare products natural cosmetics?

Our products are made with 100% natural ingredients, but we don't have the official natural cosmetics certificate yet.

Do the products contain allergens, fragrances, or preservatives?

Noral Skincare body butter and body scrub contain no added fragrances, preservatives, or perfume allergens. Our products contain sweet almond oil – please check your individual allergies.

Is Noral Skincare body butter safe to use during pregnancy?

Yes! The natural ingredients in our body butter are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In fact, the oils in the body butter can support the skin during pregnancy – promoting skin elasticity and preventing the formation of scars, while also helping to heal existing ones.

Are the products vegan and cruelty free?

Yes – Noral Skincare products are cruelty free and all the ingredients are plant-based.

How long do the products last?

Since our products are made with natural ingredients without any preservatives, we only promise a shelf-time of 6 months, but the product may still be usable after that. Color changes are normal with natural ingredients, and the products are safe to use also after changes.

How should I store my body butter and body scrub so that they remain good?

Our products should be stored in room temperature, away from direct sunlight. If the body butter melts, the consistency will change (it's still safe to use, but not as smooth as it was).

How fast can I see results from using body butter?

Some of the effects of body butter can be noticed right from the first use! The skin softens and gets a beautiful glow immediately after applying the body butter. However, longer-term effects, such as fading the appearance of scars and improving the skin texture, take more time.

Can body butter help with rough skin, cracked heels, or keratosis pilaris?

Noral Skincare body butter helps soften and moisturize rough, dry skin and can be especially nice for dry heels and elbows. Regular use can improve comfort by keeping the skin nourished, but deeper cracks in heels may need even more intensive care.

For keratosis pilaris, moisturising with body butter can support smoother-looking skin, especially together with gentle exfoliation.

Where are Noral Skincare products made?

Our products are made in Finland. We do ship in EU.
